School was buzzing from the minute the schools started to arrive yesterday!
120 pupils bursting with enthusiasm filled the display boards and tables with pictures, information, models, produce from their gardens, cakes and even some grass haired heads.
While the judges had the difficult task of choosing some winners the pupils played Hunt the Duck, jumped up and down to test out their pedometers from NHS Peterborough, quized 10 local environmental education providers about what they did, took part in a quiz themselves, wrote some blogs, ate a lot of fruit and most importantly found out what every other school there had been doing. Over lunch there was a carousel of activities provided by The Wildlife Trust, Clare Cottage, Greengage, Nene Park Trust, Sustrans, Forest for Peterborough, NHS Peterborough and the Climate Change Team.
The final part of the day was the presentations, there were a range of awards some were judged in advance from nominations made by the school and the other awards were judged on the day. The judges had a very difficult task, one of the judges said "these kids are so impressive I'd have been happy for any of them to win, choosing just one was really hard."
