Businesses can save money and energy with help from new project

Businesses are being encouraged to take action to reduce their energy usage and make cost savings with support from a new project.

The Business Energy Efficiency Cambridge and Peterborough (BEECP) programme has money available from the European Regional Development Fund to help small and medium sized eligible businesses improve their energy efficiency. BEECP is being delivered in partnership between the charity Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT), Groundwork and Nwes.

The programme offers two support packages designed to help businesses reduce carbon and save money.

Firstly, BEECP can provide businesses with a free independent energy efficiency audit which aims to identify, prioritise and quantify opportunities for cost and carbon savings that will benefit your business.

Grant funding is also available from the project to help businesses invest in capital projects and implement energy efficiency measures. Applying for funding is simple and businesses are guided through the process by the BEECP team.

“We’re excited to be launching this fantastic opportunity to organisations throughout the Greater Cambridge and Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership area,” says PECT’s CEO Carly Leonard. “With this new project, we can help support businesses to become more energy efficient and save money through doing so.”

Antony Gough, BEECP Project Manager, said: “Since we launched the BEECP programme in early 2017, we have already begun to work with businesses across the area to help them understand their energy usage and where they can make improvements to efficiency and costs.

“Improving energy efficiency makes good business sense and can bring many positive impacts; for example reduced operating costs, competitiveness, business growth and resilience.

“Our area is one of only a select few in the country where small and medium sized enterprises can benefit from this type of funding, so I’d recommend any business that thinks it might be eligible to get in touch with us and take advantage of the support which is available. Signing up is simple and our dedicated team will help every step of the way.”
