Business Energy Efficiency (Cambridge & Peterborough) Programme (BEECP)

BEECP provides one-to-one tailored and impartial energy efficiency support and discretionary grants to catalyse investment in energy efficiency initiatives. It has brought together experienced organisations and practitioners, expertise and key learning to provide a joined-up business energy efficiency service across the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership area. The programme assists Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) to invest-to-save; reduce carbon emissions; and realise the associated business benefits of reduced operating costs; and increased competitiveness; business growth; and resilience. Key programme deliverables include;

• 303 detailed on-site reviews to identify, prioritise and quantify opportunities for cost- and carbon-savings;
• The provision of delegated grant support to 124 business to catalyse investment in energy efficiency improvement measures, unlocking £1.37 million of private investment by SMEs;
• The provision of specialist technical consultancy;
• A verifiable reduction in GHG emissions of at least 733 tonnes of CO2e.

Purpose of role:

To support SMEs to submit successful applications to the BEECP’s grant scheme. You will work closely with individual SMEs to help them navigate the application process, provide technical support and help them identify potential solutions providers, to enable them to complete their grant application submissions.

You will liaise with Delivery Partners to ensure all required information is submitted to the Grant Panel in a timely manner and you will organise and administrate Grant Panel meetings, ensuring that all the decision making process is captured and recorded appropriately. You will communicate the outcome of grant applications to SMEs post-Panel and ensure all administrative requirements are met.

You will report on progress to the Project Manager, Operational Delivery Team and Strategic Governance Board as appropriate. You will also work with the Marketing Manager and have input into marketing campaigns focused on generating new grant applications to the BEECP scheme

Employer: Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT)
Based: This position will be based at Peterborough Environment City Trust’s offices: The Green House, 4-6 Cowgate, Peterborough, PE1 1NA. There may be opportunities to work from home on some days.
Salary (per annum pro rata):  Starting from £21,000 pro rata
Closing Date for applications:  12pm Friday 3rd November 2017
Interview Date: Monday 6th November 2017
Start Date: by Monday 11th December 2017 (ideally sooner)
End Date: Fixed Term Contract until 30th June 2019
Hours/Week:  18.75 hours (PECT welcomes applicants from those interested in a job share)
Work outside normal hours: Some work outside of these hours may be necessary
Reports to: BEECP Project Manager

This role is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund

Key responsibilities:

1. Undertake onsite visits or teleconferences, as appropriate, to introduce the BEECP grant scheme to businesses and help identify clear tangible projects for which a grant application could be made;
2. Provide ongoing brokerage of SME delegated grant applications that contribute to project targets and satisfy requirements around equality, value for money and practicability;
3. Promote the benefits of energy efficiency within grant applications;
4. Ensure that all processes adhere to quality procedures and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)requirements;
5. Assist beneficiaries to continue engaging with other elements of the Project.
6. Work with PECT’s Marketing Manager to promote the programme through the media and other outlets; contribute to the design of marketing materials.
7. Report on the project to meet funder requirements. Liaise with the Project Manager and Financial Compliance Manager to ensure good communications throughout, and timely delivery of reports and any information required.
