Environmental Education Coordinator

This exciting role involves working with schools to inspire children to get involved in creating a better future! Through a holistic framework, you will enable schools to make progress across a range of sustainability areas – from energy to communities, biodiversity to local economy. You will also lead the charity’s additional activity on Environmental Education, such as recent PECT work including a project on reducing food waste and another on creating wildlife corridors on school grounds.

Salary: £25,000- £28,000 pro rata

Hours/ week: Flexible – between 12-22 hours
Work outside normal hours: Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
Reports to: General Manager

Person Specification

You will have experience working with schools to deliver environmental support, both to teachers and students. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with a range of audiences including teachers, students, partners and funders. You will be able to manage a range of projects with different budgets and timescales and you will be able to develop business opportunities to expand the current provision.

Essential Criteria

1. Experience of working directly with schools
2. Good standard of education
3. Comprehensive knowledge of education system
4. Comprehensive knowledge of sustainability
5. Experience of project and budget management
6. Experience of organising events
7. Confident communicator, both verbal and written. Ability to effectively engage and communicate with range audiences
8. Good understanding of the school curriculum and where sustainable development for education fits into it.
9. Ability to continually review the services provided and develop new ideas.
10. Excellent organisational and time management skills, ability to manage projects and organise work effectively to a tight schedule.
11. A team player with good interpersonal skills
12. Willingness to use sustainable transport for work wherever possible.
1. Local knowledge of Peterborough and the surrounding area.
2. Experience of business development
