Marketing and Communications Officer: Maternity Cover



In this role, you will be responsible for proactively raising awareness of PECT and its projects. This is an all-round marketing role (covering digital, social media, events, promotional materials and advertising) but is heavily weighted towards communications and public relations.

This role is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund. A third of your time (7.4 hours a week) will be focused on delivering marketing activities for the Business Energy Efficiency Cambridge & Peterborough programme (BEECP).

BEECP provides one-to-one tailored and impartial energy efficiency support and discretionary grants to catalyse investment in energy efficiency initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

1. Deliver the marketing and communications strategy for PECT and BEECP, ensuring that key objectives are met.
2. Develop and deliver promotional activities for PECT’s local and national projects (audiences include business, schools and communities), ensuring they meet funder requirements.
3. Forge and develop new and existing relationships with supporters and key audiences (including the media) to motivate them to continue their support and form closer links with the organisation.
4. Coordinate and manage communications with the media regarding proactive and reactive enquiries in-line with protocols.
5. Oversee events, supervising and managing staff or contractors to ensure they deliver the best possible event.
6. Oversee our online marketing and relevant social networking to ensure content is up to date and engaging at all times.
7. Manage contractors/services including web, design agencies to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget.
8. Work closely with the Fundraising Manager, because both areas interlink in many instances, such as through events and corporate sponsorship.
9. Play an active role in project delivery as appropriate.

Person Specification

1. Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in marketing and communications.
2. Experience of digital media, including managing and updating websites and a social media.
3. Good understanding and experience of marketing and communications tools including online, advertising, events, and media relations and how they can be applied effectively.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Good attention to detail and adept at drafting clear and concise articles and press releases.
6. Track record of successful media engagement.
7. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to encourage collaboration.
8. Ability to demonstrate a high level of self motivation and to complete tasks with the minimum of supervision.
9. Ability to work effectively under pressure, to prioritise and manage a wide range of tasks and to be proactive, reactive and well organised.
10. Experience of managing contractors.

Salary (per annum pro rata):  £21 – £24,000 based on experience
