Event Overview
We need your help with habitat maintenance.
Castor Hanglands is one of Britain’s first national nature reserves and a very important part of John Clare countryside. Due to its array of species and wildlife it requires year round support and management to make sure all the variety’s of flora and fauna can thrive and flourish. If left, some more delicate grassland species can quickly become overwhelmed.
Our work party will help to cut back these more aggressive and domineering plants to help maintain these fragile grassland habitats.
One of the JCC team will meet you at the road entrance to the reserve and guide you to the work area. There is very little parking at the site so expect to park along the roadside and walk around half a kilometre to the event site.
It can be quite wet and cold so please wrap up warm and wear appropriate footwear. Bring a snack and drink along with you and extra layers are highly recommended. There is an array of wildlife on site including free roaming cows and deer.
