Event Overview
Lunchtime Concert: Kate Williams and Derek Scurll Jazz Quartet: Tuesday 30th October 2018 (1pm – 1.45pm)
We kick off a short season of jazz/folk lunchtime concerts with the Kate Williams and Derek Scurll Jazz Quartet, who’ll be bring us a blend of music from the Great American Songbook, and Latin jazz classics on voice and vibraphone.
Kate Williams studied classical singing at the Guildhall, and then ventured into work as a jazz vocalist alongside a successful teaching and therapy career.
Derek Scurll studied music at Selwyn College Cambridge and is now an in-demand orchestral percussionist and jazz drummer. His vibraphone playing is at the heart of this new project.
Kate and Derek are joined by Fenland-based pianist Ivan Garford and Jose Canha on double bass.
As usual the café will be open from noon, serving a range of hot drinks and home-made quiche, cakes, scones etc. All profits from the café will go to The Green Backyard.
The concert will begin promptly at 1pm.
