Event Overview
Spring is in the air and to celebrate why not join the Mayor of Peterborough for a family-friendly 15km charity cycle ride. We will depart from the PECT offices in Ham Lane at 2:30pm and will follow cycle paths along the river Nene to the Peterborough Lido Gardens before returning via Ferry Meadows, aiming to arrive back at Ham Lane around 4pm where PECT will be providing refreshments, snacks and prizes for finishers.
The route
The route has been designed to be accessible to cyclists of all ages and is predominantly on dedicated cycle paths away from traffic. There is around 200m of cycling on quiet roads as well as a few road and train-track crossings where extra care must be taken.
The route map can be seen here: Green wheel – 15km | bike Tour | Komoot
Who can join?
Anyone can join, there is no need to register or pay, simply turn up on the day and have fun. PECT riders will be on-hand to ensure that everyone gets round so you don’t have to worry about keeping up.
What to bring
On the day, make sure you bring water, snacks, weather-suitable clothing (e.g. sunhats, raincoats), a bike lock and cash if you would like to make a donation. We would also advise you to bring a basic repair kit including a cycle pump.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Note that PECT riders will be on hand to guide the route, but you are responsible for your own safety and that of any minors you are accompanying on the ride. You can leave the ride early if you want to, we just ask you that you let a member of the PECT team know. Please ensure you cycle safely, following the Highway Code and that your bike is in a suitable condition for riding. We will ride at a slow and steady pace, adjusting to weather conditions where needed to minimise risks. In extreme weather, where we judge the risk of cycling to be unsafe, we will cancel the ride.
