Midwinter Walk
Work off the Christmas pudding with Ely Local Group as they aim to discover what mid-Winter wildlife can be found around Roswell Pits and the River Great Ouse.
With the exception of our summer migrants, that flee to warmer climes with the onset of autumn, British wildlife has largely evolved to cope with the low temperatures, shorter day length and possible bad weather that winter brings.
Indeed, many species actively head to Britain, thus taking advantage of the relatively benign conditions that these islands enjoy.
We’ve therefore no excuse not to get out and look for them!
In what has now become something of a custom, Ely Local Group will be heading out to see what species they can spot around the Roswell Pits area. Bittern, Goosander and Kingfisher are amongst the highlights of previous mid-winter walks and, whilst they cannot be guaranteed, there should be plenty of interest.
