UK Ladybird Survey
An illustrated talk on The UK Ladybird Survey which aims to encourage the recording of all species of ladybird, including non-native types, found within the UK.
Ecologist Prof Helen Roy will summarise the methods and findings of The UK Ladybird Survey which involves the public reporting sightings with photographs via the iRecord website and the Biological Records Centre/Centre for Ecology & Hydrology mobile phone app.
The project has been central in monitoring the rapid spread of the non-native harlequin ladybird in the UK from its first confirmed appearance in 2004 although many small so-called inconspicuous ladybirds are still under-reported.
