In order to find out what local residents think about their city, Emma attended the PECT Green Festival, held at the end of August. The festival showcases Peterborough’s sustainable, green and eco-friendly local businesses and opportunities. With workshops, food stalls, activities and more, the festival attracts a diverse range of the community, perfect for a designer looking for inspiration…
Emma spent the day asking visitors to the festival what they thought of when they visualised Peterborough’s environment. The Cathedral and gardens, the fens, swans on the river, the Millennium Bridge, and many important buildings were listed. It was with these ideas that Emma came up with a simple yet effective design for PECT.
So, inspired by the local community, and using 100% recycled paint from the local recycling centre CCORN, Emma completed the mural:
“I absolutely loved the whole experience. Communities and the natural environment are the main focus and inspiration for my business so it was lovely to put these passions into images! I really hope that the people that come into contact with it, not only PECT themselves but their visitors too, enjoy the mural and feel they can relate to it.”
