As the evenings grow longer and the weather turns colder, many households across Cambridgeshire are looking to save costs on their energy bills. To help, PECT, in partnership with Cambridgeshire ACRE and funded by Energy Redress, is continuing the CHESS (Community Housing Energy Support Scheme) project – a free energy advice service designed to provide practical support.
The project offers personalised advice and assistance to help households reduce energy bills, access financial support, and stay warm this winter. Through phone consultations or home visits, experienced Energy Advisors can share energy-saving tips, improve home efficiency, recommend funding, and empower residents with the knowledge and tools to manage future energy challenges.
This service aims to support households in Fenland, Huntingdonshire, East Cambridgeshire, and Cambridge City in maintaining a warm, healthy living environment throughout the winter months.
Henry Buttress, Energy and Communities Manager at PECT, highlights the importance of this initiative: “We know that rising energy costs are making it harder for many people to heat their homes. Families, older residents, and those with long-term health conditions or disabilities are particularly affected. CHESS is here to provide guidance and practical support to ensure no one has to endure a cold or unsafe home this winter.”
