Energy and Communities Project Manager

Through the management of the home energy team, you would oversee projects that directly contribute to creating greener more sustainable communities. This role is about being a change-maker; an influencer in the community who inspires others to join in creating a more sustainable future.

Purpose of role:
The Energy and Communities Project Manager will play a crucial role in driving sustainable change within local communities. This position focuses on educating residents about energy efficiency, supporting health and wellbeing programs, and leading behaviour change initiatives.
The role involves actively engaging with the community to promote sustainability efforts and managing the home energy team to oversee projects that contribute to creating sustainable environments.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of domestic energy saving and the benefits of sustainable practices for individuals and communities. They will be a catalyst for change and an influencer, inspiring others to participate in building a sustainable future and achieving environmental goals.

Based: This position will be based at PECT’s offices: Ham Lane House, Ham Lane Peterborough, PE2 5UU. Hybrid working is currently in place with two days per week in the office.
Salary: £31,500 – £36,000 depending on experience.

Hours/Week: 37 hours per week (although part-time hours will be considered)
Work outside normal hours: Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, typically for events

Key responsibilities:
- Lead and project manage PECTS’s domestic energy and fuel poverty initiatives to support residents in reducing their energy consumption.
- Empower communities and individuals through the development and management of sustainability projects that promote healthy and sustainable lifestyles
- Inspire, motivate, develop and manage the domestic energy team in accordance with PECT’s culture and policies
- Drive the transition towards cleaner and renewable energy sources by engaging with the community, providing training, and offering support.
- Deliver comprehensive training and support to stakeholders on issues related to fuel poverty, energy efficiency, climate change and sustainability.
- Develop and implement behaviour change programs and projects aimed at promoting eco-friendly habits within the community.
- Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to promote a collaborative approach to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
- Work towards significant reductions in community carbon emissions, contributing to the achievement of net zero targets.
- Collaborate with the wider PECT team to enhance public participation in environmental sustainability programs.
- Ensure an equitable and inclusive transition for all citizens, emphasizing fair access to sustainable practices and resources.
- Implement, deliver, and evaluate programs to ensure they meet their intended goals, on budget and time and have a positive impact on the community.

Essential criteria:
- Experienced in managing community-based projects aimed at reducing environmental impact and achieving net zero emissions.
- Skilled in project management, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.
- An effective communicator capable of conveying the importance of sustainability to diverse audiences.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet targets and handle issues that arise
- Ability to make decisions and act on own initiative; to self-motivate to ensure successful project outcomes.
- IT literate especially in Microsoft Office Software
- Willingness to learn and undertake training where appropriate
Desirable:
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an environmental, business or science related discipline or relevant experience
- Be committed to continuous professional development.
- Enthusiasm for and understanding of environmental and sustainable issues
