NOMINATE YOUR STUDENT AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR
This year our schools celebration event has undergone a makeover! We’re excited to present our Schools Sustainability Showcase, previously Eco Awards, for 2025.
PECT’s annual schools event is an opportunity for primary & secondary schools to come together and take part in practical hands-on activities to inspire new ideas and projects to take back to school. Accompanying staff will get to meet other providers and schools to further extend partnership working.
This year’s event will be taking place at ARU Peterborough on Thursday 22nd May 2025 from 9am – 3pm and will follow a similar format as previous years, but will offer brand new and exciting activities. The positive feedback we have received from past events has demonstrated to us how valued the day is by both schools and students and so we are pleased to be back for another year.
Check out previous year’s highlights:
Please note, due to restricted capacity, schools are limited to 6 students and 2 accompanying staff.

St John Fisher Secondary: Recycling Ambassadors
“The Eco-warriors have been on a roll this year! From implementing crisp packet bins and working tirelessly in the sensory garden to finish the pond, this year they also converted the newsletter from paper to electronic and organised several litter-picking sessions”
St Augustine’s Primary: Book Bus
“At St Augustine’s, we have fulfilled a 10 year dream of converting an old coach into a ‘Book Bus’; a library and reading area for our children to use, inspiring a love of reading. At the very beginning, we knew we wanted this to be a sustainable project. “
Ravensthorpe Primary: Sustainable Outdoor Learning
“We have been working in partnership with the WestRaven Community Garden to create a beautiful space for all. We enjoy activities in the garden area every day and utilise the space in the afternoons when we have children from Virtual School attending. We have worked with PECT recently in the Community Garden when the children from our school helped to construct a wildlife wall for insects and planted wildflower seeds”
Southfields Primary School: School Gardens
“Our children have been enjoying getting back to normality and the garden areas in school have been so beneficial to our mental health and well-being. Reception have created their own gardening area, we have built eco fences and our school allotment is once again up and running”
Northborough Primary School: Site Development
“Through our Eco Charter work with PECT, we have been able to develop our outdoor space. We are creating nature corridors to enhance biodiversity and attract more wildlife to the site, planting a cathedral of trees for the children to be able to take part in outdoor lessons, a den building area for free play, as well as areas that will be left for nature to thrive in. “
Hampton College Primary Phase: Food Growing Tower
“The Growing Tower programme was devised to introduce children to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, introduce an alternative method of food production, reveal how the food we eat can impact on the planet, and provide children with a platform to share their positive solutions. “
